Gonzalez Sports Academy (GSA) is a state of the art multi-training sports facility. The 29,000 square foot community based complex is dedicated to strength and conditioning, speed and agility, baseball, softball and football skill development, boxing conditioning and volleyball and tennis.
GSA was founded by brothers, Adrian Gonzalez, (Eastlake High School, Class of 2000) and Edgar Gonzalez, both American major league baseball players.
Adrian Gonzalez is an American professional baseball first baseman with the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball.
Adrian Gonzalez was the first overall pick in the 2000 Major League Baseball Draft by the Florida Marlins. He was traded to the Texas Rangers, and later to the San Diego Padres, where he was an All-Star selection four times and two-time Gold Glove winner. The four-time Padres team Most Valuable Player (MVP) was traded to the Boston Red Sox before entering the final year of his contract during the 2010 offseason.
On December 6, 2010, Gonzalez was traded to the Boston Red Sox and on on April 15, 2011, Gonzalez and the Red Sox agreed to a seven-year contract extension worth $154 million through the 2018 season.
On July 3, Adrian Gonzalez was selected to represent the Red Sox at the 2011 All Star game in Arizona. Gonzalez hit a home run in the game and was responsible for the only run for the American League.
Gonzalez was named AL Player of the Month for June 2011 with a .401 average (40 for 99) – the best in the Majors for that month.
Edgar Gonzalez is a an American major league baseball player and the older brother of first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. Edgar is currently in the San Francisco Giants organization.
Edgar Gonzalez made his Major League debut in May, 2008 and spent the remainder of the season with San Diego. He joined his younger brother Adrian on the Major League club, becoming the sixth set of brothers in club history and fourth pair to play together. He finished among National League rookie leaders in batting average, home runs, RBI, multiple-hit games, runs, hits, total bases, doubles, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and extra-base hits. He made 72 appearances at second base, 66 starts, four at third base, two starts, three at shortstop, one start, two in left field, one start, and three in right field, one start. Gonzalez posted a .984 ?elding percentage overall, making ?ve errors in 310 total chances.
Edgar made his debut at 29 years, 333 days old making him the second oldest player to make his debut for the Padres, the first being Akinori Otsuka at 32 years, 84 days old.
In 2009 Gonzalez failed to follow up his superb rookie season. He hit .216 with 33 hits, eight doubles, two triples, four home runs and 18 RBIs. On July 18, he was struck in the head by a fastball from Colorado Rockies’ pitcher Jason Hammel. This caused Gonzalez to miss seven weeks with concussion-like symptoms.
On February 10, 2011 the San Francisco Giants signed Gonzalez to a minor league contract.
The Gonzalez brother’s father was a member of the Mexican national baseball team.
